Step by Step Painting

Spend a fun evening with friends in a relaxed studio space that will provide lots of social and artistic interaction while learning about basic acrylic painting techniques. The instructor will provide step by step instruction. The young artist will complete a 16 x 20 canvas masterpiece they will be proud of.

Sculpture

Sculpture helps an artist understand balance, form and space. Working with three dimensional mediums helps transform concrete thought into creative expressions. Manipulation of 3-D materials helps students with hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. This class will help the art student understand and appreciate the form and processes that explore modeling, assembling, hand-building and plaster techniques with 3-D mediums. This is a fun class for students of all ages and skill levels.

Explore the Art Studio

For the child that can’t get enough art. Young artist will discover and challenge their imaginations while having fun experimenting with different mediums. They will learn ways of problem solving while exploring the endless possibilities that this class has to offer.

Fashion Design

This class will cover fashion figure drawing, construction elements and fashion trends. Students will work individually to sketch and create their own dress. In the spirit of the show Project Runway our challenge will be to create a garment using only recycled materials. Students are encouraged to gather things that interest them and bring them along to the first art class.

Abstract Artists & Their Paintings

The class will be introducing students (ages 9-11) to the works of Abstract Expressionist painters, Willem de Kooning, Lee Krasner and Wassily Kandinsky. The students will be studying the artists work and will create, critique, and appreciate art through an exciting hands-on curriculum.

Basic Drawing

A creative workshop that will explore the basic fundamentals of drawing. Create unique and colorful works of art that are based on still life, imagination and the natural world using various drawing materials (pastels, ink makers, etc.). Through a step-by-step method, students, are taught basic drawing skills which result in art work that is expressionistic and energetic. Our students no loner experience boredom or frustration, as they are taught on an individualized basis according to their personal abilities and proficiencies, moving ahead at their own pace. This enables them to be given the artistic “tools” they need to create art for the rest of their lives. Sketchbook Studio works with students to build skills and a life long appreciation of the Arts.

Mixed Media

For the child that can’t get enough art. Young artists will discover and challenge their imaginations while having fun and experimenting with different mediums. They will learn ways of problem solving while exploring the endless possibilities that this class has to offer.

Open Studio

Sketchbook Studio is offering open studio art classes. This allows your child to pick out an area of interest and create their own unique piece of artwork with a professional artist facilitating their instruction. Some students will be working on drawing while others may be making sculptures simultaneously. Small classes allow the Sketchbook Studio Creative Director to work with each student individually helping them to create their own unique body of work.

Printmaking

Most art that is created is just one piece. Printmaking is another art form that allows us to make multiple copies from one design. The goal of printmaking is to allow the artist to explore different materials and to talk about their efforts and their work. In this workshop, students will experiment with different tools and will identify ordinary objects that they can make prints from.
